The exhibition Antipodean Palette has a plethora of events that promote the arts created by Greek Australians. The exhibition itself features prominent artists and up-and-coming artists creating works from all artistic disciplines.
On Saturday 24 May, the Greek Australian Cultural League (GACL) will present the work of well-known Greek poet, Spiros Karamountzos. Poet’s Garden, a collection of some of his works translated into English, will be presented by Dimitris Troaditis. Kostas Paivanas will showcase the poet’s body of work. A bi-lingual event starting at 4.00 pm.
On Sunday 25 May, GACL will host an afternoon of poetry centred about the theme of ‘metamorphosis’. Eight Greek Australian poets will entertain the audience with pieces intimately connected to the transformation of outer reality and inner mental life. The eight poets are Dimitris Troaditis, Konstandina Dounis, Petr Malapanis, George Mouratidis, Michael Giannopoulos, Steve Messinis, Dina Amanatides and Pixie Trangas. Accompanying them will be our special guest, the acclaimed Australian poet Judith Rodriguez, for what promises to be a cerebrally stimulating and memorable afternoon.
All events will take place as part of the Antipodean Palette exhibition held at Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon Street, Carlton.
