Two Greek teams, South Springvale SC (Aris) and Benleigh Greens will make history in the FFA Cup, after taking out impressive wins in the Dockerty Cup quarter finals.

Bentleigh Greens managed to climb back from a 1-0 deficit to claim a 3-1 victory against NPL 1 side Richmond on Tuesday.

A week before, Aris proved their worth and downed NPL team Hume City 3-0.

Sadly, Northcote City wasn’t as lucky, losing to St Albans Saints SC in a penalty shootout after the score ended in a 1-1 draw.

The lost chance was disappointing for the boys, especially with a 0-2 loss against Hume City in the NPL season on Sunday.
One Greek team is still yet to play and is almost a shoo- in for the spot. South Melbourne, the dominating force of the NPL, is taking on Melbourne Knights, a
team that is trailing on the ladder.

They take on the Knights next Wednesday, in the final match to decide the top four teams to get into the FFA Cup.

Bentleigh Greens coach John Anastasiadis is excited at the prospect of meeting an A-League team in the cup.

“It’s good for the club and the competition,” he said to the Herald Sun.

“There’s a bit of romance about it. It can take you to all parts of Australia.”

Anastasiadis will be using his NPL fixtures to get as much practice in before the FFA Cup round of 32 begins.

The fixture for the FFA Cup will be decided next Thursday after the South Melbourne, Melbourne Knights match.
