Showing just how serious the outbreak of ebola is in West Africa, Father Themis Adamopoulos has had to postpone his trip back to Australia and won’t be appearing at the AHEPA fundraiser in September.
The High Tea event on father’s day will still go ahead and AHEPA president, John Papaemmanouil tells Neos Kosmos they are in the process of booking
Father Themis’ sister to take his place.
The fundraiser will be supporting Paradise Kids 4 Africa, Father Themis’ main charity that helps with missions around Sierra Leone, Kenya and Papua New Guinea.
Disappointed he won’t be able to make it, Father Themis will at least be appearing at the event in the form of a video link.
Mary Adamopoulos, who has just returned from the Sierra Leone mission will be taking her brother’s place.
All of the funds raised at the high tea will be donated to Father Themis to assist Paradise Kids 4 Africa in its relief projects including getting supplies to the medical clinic, canteen and educational facilities the charity looks after.
Last year, AHEPA Youth raised $4,000 for the Greek charity, O Kivotos Tou Kosmou (Arch of the World).
The high tea will be held on Sunday 7 September, and costs $35 for members and $40 for non-members.
