An art show dedicated to first generation Greek Australians, hosted by the Greek Australian Cultural League, will be held from 29 to 31 August.
A rare opportunity to showcase the hidden talent within the Greek Australian senior community, the art show is aimed at first generation Greek Australians, those who grew up during the turmoil of war, and subsequent depression, later migrating to establish a new existence.
Hard working and committed to family upbringing in a new world, there was no time to express their creativity. Now, years later and as aged pensioners, they can enjoy time pursuing their inherent love for art.
The art show is for those who have a keen interest and partake in art as a hobby but have missed the opportunity to showcase their talent.
Participating in the event will be Vakkina Panagiotidis, Michael Schizas, Mary Giavasoglou, Maria Tsalamandris, Xenophon Harlamoff, Neofitos Charalambous, Eleni Charalambous and Litsa Gogas.
Opening night will be held on Friday 29 August at 6.00 pm, featuring the well known to the Greek community singer Anthea Sidiropoulos performing some of her compositions.
Opening hours of the exhibition are from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, at The Panarcadian Association O Kolokotronis, 570 Victoria St. North Melbourne, 2nd floor. For more details contact infogaclm@gmail.com or visit gacl.com.au
