The new edition of literary periodical Antipodes was launched on October 5 at a special event held at the Panarcadian Association of Melbourne.
Volume 60, launched by Dr Thanasis Spilias, pays tribute to one of the founding members of the Greek Australian Cultural League (GACL) Plutarch Deliyannis for his contribution to Greek letters, history and culture in the Greek Australian community.
According to GACL, the Antipodes periodical is longest published, bi-lingual periodical circulating in Australia, with its first editon published in 1974.
“Throughout its forty year history the periodical has featured works by Greek-Australian writers and artists in either English or Greek whose contribution to the maintenance of the Greek culture and literature is assured,’ president of the GACL Cathy Alexopoulos says.
At the event, GACL also announced a donation of $2,000 to the Greek Cultural Centre.
