Tickets are now on sale for Baz Luhrmann’s highly anticipated Strictly Ballroom The Musical, which will premiere in Melbourne in January 2015.
Strictly Ballroom had its global premiere in April at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, where it is currently playing.

“A spectacular, eye popping musical, brought to life in all its sequined glory” and “a dazzling feast for the eye”, as The Sunday Telegraph wrote, the musical was staged by the original creative team behind the classic 1992 film.

Director and co-writer Baz Luhrmann, set and costume designer Catherine Martin, choreographer John ‘Cha Cha’ O’Connell and co-writer Craig Pearce, joined their strengths with Greek Australian Phoebe Panaretos in the role of ‘Fran’ and Thomas Lacey in the role of ‘Scott Hastings’.

The duo will lead an outstanding Australian cast of 43 onto the stage of Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre, including Bob Baines, Drew Forsythe, Natalie Gamsu, Robert Grubb, Fernando Mira, Heather Mitchell and Mark Owen-Taylor. Strictly Ballroom The Musical is the inspiring story of a championship ballroom dancer who defies all the rules to follow his heart. This uplifting and courageous tale originated as a stage play that Baz Luhrmann devised with a group of students at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) back in 1984.

Strictly Ballroom will premiere at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on 14 January 2015. For more information about the musical and to purchase tickets, visit www.strictlyballroomthemusical.com or www.ticketek.com.au
