Fanis, Eirini, Alex, Harris and Vassilis all come from different backgrounds: arts and culture, social sciences and entrepreneurship, but they all believe in powerful experiences and people reaching their full potential through collaboration.

For that, they created Greek Animators, a vibrant community of performing artists of all kinds, traditional or contemporary, local or global, dancers, musicians, actors, painters who wish to co-create and to offer unforgettable cultural experiences.

Greek Animators aims to stage interactive shows, recreational activities and imaginative performances for all ages, mostly for travellers, hotel guests and tourists who wish to meet the true contemporary cultural action in Greece, ensuring they enjoy their stay to the maximum.

In times of financial hardship, Greece is tormented by youth unemployment, seriously affecting its fragmented cultural scene. Young performing artists and graduates from gymnastics schools fighting by themselves to fulfil their dreams are left without creative exits. At the same time, there is a constantly rising wave of visitors to Greece from all over the world, who look for experiencing something different and unique other than the beautiful climate and the sea.

The group envisions Greek Animators as the national team for culture and tourism.

“We reached out and all of a sudden we’ve gathered dozens of people, from street dancers and musicians to rhythmic gymnastics athletes and theatre groups that are in fact forming the largest animators’ community in Greece,” the team explains.

“Today, we are in the process of forming a social cooperative enterprise in order to be able to sustain and develop the project, fight youth unemployment in the sector of performing arts and culture, by developing innovative happenings for the sector of tourism. Of course, locals are also very welcome to attend our events.

“We have already found the ideal space to house our offices and the absolutely necessary trainings, rehearsals and seminars. We’ve started repairing it with our hands, but we can’t get very far without your support,” Greek Animators admit.

The team has taken to indigogo to reach the remaining amount of US$5,000 needed to transform the offices into a vibrant space with the right facilities to host the artists’ dreams.

“Our community is open, constantly inviting and embracing new people and collaborations that enlarge its possibilities.”

“We aim to highlight upcoming cultural groups and all the fresh and evolving talent in Greece,” it says.

“We focus on Greek history and cultural tradition in our happenings but also combine it with contemporary international elements that flourish now days in our country.

“That way, we promote an authentic view of the newest cultural activity in Greece.”
