Greek Australian Swansea striker James Demetriou has been charged with alleged “multiple breaches” of betting rules.
The Football Association (FA) said the 19-year-old had been charged on its website on Friday and have given him until June 1 to respond to charges.
A statement from the FA read: “Demetriou has been charged for alleged multiple breaches of FA Rule E8 in relation to betting.”
Demetriou, born in Sydney to Cypriot parents, joined Swansea on a free transfer from club Nottingham Forest. Currently on a two-year contract, Demetriou is yet to play for the first team.
Back home, Demetriou spent time at the Sydney FC Youth Academy and made the NSW elite football program. Shortly afterwards Demetriou moved overseas and was offered a place at Apollon Limasoll, but turned it down for a trial at Southampton.
He has also played a number of games for Cyprus’ under 21s.
