Ever wanted to live in a house that has been featured on national television? Well, now is your chance.

Brothers Chris and Nick Stavropoulos from Channel 7’s reality TV show House Rules have called it a day and announced the listing of their renovated property on the housing market.

“We don’t really want to sell, but now’s the best time because the market is so great and we’re at the point where it’s time to move on to a new project,” said Nick.

Appearing on the 2013 series, the two brothers came together two years ago with a vision to set themselves up for the future with their 1950s Preston home.
Although Nick, 24, admits it was more his brother’s idea.

“We hadn’t planned to buy a home together, but after Chris discovered I was about to spend $60,000 on a ‘hero tradie car’, he convinced me to invest in the house instead,” said Nick, a self-employed project manager.

When they came across the three-bedroom Jackman Street property in its original condition, they knew it was an opportunity, with a chance to put Nick’s carpentry skills to use.

Along with the help of their fellow team members, they were able to give the house a stunning and modern makeover in just seven days.

“We absolutely loved the work they did on our house, particularly the lounge room. It’s so warm and inviting … we really couldn’t have asked for more,” said Nick.

Already an appealing property with two living areas, a dining area, a designer kitchen and two bathrooms, the duo didn’t stop there, deciding to further extend the home’s outdoor entertaining area.

And it’s not surprising to hear that Hocking Stuart Preston director John Petsinis has already received a large number of genuine enquiries regarding the property, saying that he feels positive about the impending auction due to take place on August 29.

“The beauty of this property is that it’s the only one in the street with dual access,” said Mr Petsinis.

But aside from choosing the right suburb to situate your home, what is the key to success for aspiring renovators?

Nick says it’s all about thinking outside the box.

“Take it one step at a time, consider the costs and stick to your budget, but most of all, pay a tradie to do it for you,” he said.
