Students of grades one and 11 at South Oakleigh’s Victorian School of Languages (VSL) enjoyed a surprise visit from Oakleigh MP Steve Dimopoulos last weekend.
With the class studying Pontian customs, Mr Dimopoulos donned a blue and white apron and joined in the fun, assisting VSL area manager Venetia Kefalianos and the students in making 200 Pontian pereskia (pirozhki).
Ms Kefalianos said she was delighted to have the MP present during their interactive cultural lesson.
“You can honestly do so much to encourage the learning and preservation of the Greek language,” Ms Kefalianos said.
