Olympiakos has ensured it remains on track to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League following a 1-nil win over Dinamo Zagrab in Croatia this morning.
The home side controlled the ball for 57 per cent of the match, completing 140 more passes, but the Greek side created more chances in front of goal.
The hard fought win came after Dinamo was denied twice by the woodwork, before Olympiakos striker Ideye Brown found the back of the net in the 79th minute.
The victory makes it two-from-two on the road, after the Reds defeated English giant Arsenal in their last Champions League outing three weeks ago.
Manager Marco Silva told reporters he was happy with his team’s effort in Croatia.
“We are happy with our performance and the results obtained,” he said.
“As for Ideye’s goal, we are really happy; he is a pro working hard every day. He had his chance to score earlier in the match but he didn’t. So, when he got a second chance, he did it.
“We are very pleased with the efforts not only of this player, but the whole team.”
They now move equal second with group-leader Bayern Munich losing 2-nil to Arsenal in England this morning.
Olympiakos will face Dinamo Zagreb again in its next group match at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium on November 4.
