A mysterious love letter believed to belong to a refugee, has been found washed ashore a Greek beach by Swedish journalist Erik Wiman.
The letter kept in tact by a waterproof bag, was discovered by Wiman in late October, while on the island of Samos covering the refugee crisis for Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet.
“We know nothing about the letter ¬writer or the woman he writes about, but it is easy to imagine that the meaning of such lines may be an even greater significance for those who have forced to leave a life behind, to try to start a new one in another part of the world,” the journalist wrote in Aftonbladet.
“Maybe they’re together or life just has forced them to separate.”
Written in Arabic, the letter is addressed to a woman by the name of Rose and signed by Hamody, believed to be short for Mohammed or Ahmad.
A English translation of the letter reveals a great deal of passion expressed from the writer to his beloved.
“My Rose, I promise you, I will love you until the last minute of my life,” writes Hamody.
“I promise you, I will not let anything separate us, whatever happens.”
The journalist hopes that posting his findings on the internet that he will be able to track down the couple via the hashtag #FindRose.
