Authorities looking to put an end to illegal off-street meets have arrested two kingpin hoons, one of whom has been linked to Ivana Clonaridis, who was killed in an illegal street race earlier this year.
The 18-year-old, discovered to be friends on Facebook with the alleged Northern Skids group head Jake Vasilevski, had her life cut short when a drag race became fatal, resulting in the vehicle in which she was a passenger plunging over the EJ Whitten Bridge.
Mr Vasilevski, 21, is faced with charges of reckless conduct endangering serious injury and possessing explosives.
Meanwhile, accused South East Skids ringleader Marcus Reddecliffe, 24, is to face six counts of reckless conduct endangering serious injury, along with various hoon and traffic offences.
Despite the raid, the 21-year-old was vocal on social media, posting: “YES I GOT RAIDED THIS MORNING, PLEASE DO NOT RING OR TEXT MY PHONE AND TUNE INTO NINE NEWS TONIGHT ;););)”
But Mr Reddecliffe, who is expecting the birth of his first child this week, took the opportunity to warn other ‘revheads’ to think twice about their actions.
“Stop, think of your families and get a job.
“It’s stupidity really,” said Mr Reddecliffe.
According to a report in the Herald Sun, an off-street source said members of the groups had been warned weeks ago to keep attendees at private gatherings to a minimum. But how long will it last?
“With skids it won’t be over. I reckon two, three more months and it will be back up again.
“It’s just a waiting game really,” the source told the Herald Sun.
Both Mr Vasilevski and Mr Reddecliffe will face Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on May 11.
