Panathinaikos till take on PAOK in the second round of the Greek Super League play-offs on Saturday with both sides level on three points each.
PAOK started the mini-tournament with an impressive come from behind win against AEK Athens at Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki on Wednesday, while Panathinaikos could only manage a draw against Panionios.
PAOK beat AEK 2-1 despite going behind when their goalkeeper Panayiotis Glykos made an error that gifted the ball to AEK’s Swedish midfielder Jakob Johansson to open the score in the first half.
The home side though bounced back in the second half with goals from Garry Rodrigues and substitute Yiannis Mystakidis.
At Nea Smyrni, Panionios also capitalised on a goalkeeping error, by Panathinaikos’s Luke Steele, that allowed Karim Ansarifard to open the score. Argentinean Sebastian Leto drew the sides level with a shot from outside the area for the final 1-1 score.
Panathinaikos and PAOK are on three points and will meet this weekend in Athens, AEK is on two points and Panionios on one, those two sides also meet Sunday at the Athens Olympic Stadium.
