AlcoCups and Chasers nightclub have partnered to develop an innovative, interactive and informative alcohol and drug education program for secondary school students.
Following Tuesdays successful event, on Saturday 21 May at 3:00pm the club (386 Chapel Street South Yarra) will host another education program entitled Heading Out Heading Home.
“Our aim is to provide alcohol and drug education to parents, guardians, teenagers, teachers and counsellors in an engaging, informative and interactive manner,” Melbourne nightclub owner Martha Tsamis tells Neos Kosmos.
“Therefore resulting in parents, guardians and others, as well as the teenagers to make more informed decisions and reducing the likelihood of alcohol and drug related harm.”
The program, delivered in an actual nightclub to better “set the scene’, will cover specific topic areas including alcohol, drugs, responsibility of a licensed venue, and role of staff (management, security and bar staff), role of Police, role of Paramedics, how to look after ourselves, our friends and safe ways to travel home after enjoying their night out.
The program has a strong focuses on interactive activities, incorporating relevant scenarios appropriate for the targeted audience.
Resources will also be provided to those attending, which further assist in reducing harms associated to alcohol and drugs.
Media outlets will also be in attendance, filming and reporting on this new innovative approach to alcohol and drug education.
