A number of Greek Australians have been recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours from across the nation and awarded for their varying contributions to the community.
Among them were Jack Condous from Adelaide, who was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to the visual arts and education.
Also receiving OAMs were Sydney’s Peter Zadelis, honoured for his service to the community; Rosemary Joan Samios for her service to the Scottish community of NSW; and Peter Patisteas for his service to the community of Melbourne.
Melbourne-based refugee advocate Paris Aristotle was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), and Brisbane’s Kosmas Sclavos was recognised for his service to the pharmacy profession, as well as to education and community health.
This year a total of 891 Australians were recognised from a diverse range of fields including science, law, community services, design and entertainment.
