Honouring its annual tradition in memory of Dimosthenis Manasis’ grandparents Fotini and Dimosthenis Manasis, the dance school is hosting a concert in Term 2.

The feast “to show our appreciation for our grandparents and other special people in our lives”, as Mr Manasis says, will take place in Oakleigh’s Kingston Hall on Sunday 17 June.

This event began a few years ago as a small “open class” dance lesson, where families were welcome to come and watch a lesson in progress.

“As our school grew so did the success of these small presentations, hence, generating more and more interest from our wider community,” Mr Manasis explained.

“Throughout the duration of the concert each year, the project[ed] AV slideshow acts as a very sentimental backdrop to the whole event, screening wedding photos of the grandparents of our students’ families. Of course, this year’s event will be especially dedicated to the eternal memory of my beloved grandfather Pappou Dimosthenis, together with the memories of many of our students’ late grandparents, celebrating four generations.”

To celebrate Grandparents Day this year, Manasis Dance School has organised a concert in which each class, from three-year-old beginners to senior students, will perform a medley of Greek dances.

The event is an opportunity for students to dress in traditional costumes and perform Greek dances learnt throughout the semester.

During this year’s show, there will also be live instrumental performances and various presentations from some very talented students as well as other special guests.

When: Sunday 17 June from 1.30 – 5.00 pm.

Where: Kingston City Hall, 985 Nepean Hwy, Moorabbin, VIC.
