In spite of statements of disapproval from the U.S. and British embassies in Athens, Greece’s Prison Board granted the infamous and unrepentant leader of the disbanded terrorist group 17 November another furlough, the fifth consecutive prison leave in a short period of time.
The most recent prison leave will last six days, with another two days allocated on top of that, registered as travel time.
The furlough has been granted on the basis of good behaviour and time served with the note that Koufodinas always returns on time to prison and makes good use of his leave.
Koufodinas’ previous leaves had been granted from high-security Athens penitentiary Korydallos, while in August the terrorist was transferred to the Volos Agricultural Prison, an open-air prison that operates as an agricultural facility with much lenient conditions for prisoners. His holiday season leave is the first granted from the Volos facility.
This decision has again seen the SYRIZA administration under fire as the highly dangerous hitman is responsible for the murders of American and British military attachés in Athens and has been involved in the assassination of 23 people including Greek politicians, businessmen and journalists.
