Greek police are investigating the murder of a woman on Sunday morning at Agios Theodoroi, a seaside town 12km east of Corinth.

The attack took place outside the holiday house of the 73-year-old victim, who had visited the area with her husband and son to see if their house had been damaged by the recent floods.

The car had stopped and called the woman and when she approached one of the assailants who was out of the car, he grabbed a chain she wore around her neck. She resisted and called for help, falling to the ground in the struggle.

The two assailants did a U-turn as there was a dead end street and ran over the woman, fatally injuring her in their escape.

The man who had got out of the car is described as dark, heavy and 30-35 years of age.

Police have gathered statements from witnesses in the area and are looking for CCTV footage. Investigations are concentrating around Roma settlements around Corinth and Megara, however have yet to find the assailants nor the silver Hyundai that ran over the woman.
