Lalor North Primary School, the only truly Greek-English bilingual school in Australia, is soldiering on with its programme online.

The last time Neos Kosmos visited the school we commented on the faint smell of orange peel, spanakopita and sharpened pencils during lunch breaks. Alas, the aromas are no more, but bilingual education is as strong as ever with the school’s educators carrying out 50 per cent of the lessons in Greek and the rest in English from Prep to Year 2 and 30 per cent in Greek from Year 3 through to Year 6.

Here’s what education looks like at Lalor North these days:

Fotini, grade 1, is enjoying her Greek Easter writing.

Chrysoula Pappas (prep) presents the Greek letter of the week.
Xaviar in prep shows us her train in Greek.
Cassandra Pappas in Grade 5 wrote about Easter.

Gabriella from grade 1 is reading.
