Victoria confirmed 113 new COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths, the Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed. Today’s increase in cases is the lowest since 5 July, when 74 cases were recorded.
The number of fatalities are still high, with the death toll now at 485 people for the state.
There were 1,487 active cases and 121 active outbreaks in aged care and 50 in disability facilities yesterday.
Confidence in aged care has decreased since the start of their pandemic. A survey by the Fifth Dimension from 31 July to 31 August found 54 per cent of 1000 respondents were considering moving their loved ones into their own homes, with two out of three saying they would do so temporarily as the rest contemplated this as a permanent change.
