A Greek Australian lawyer is among the cohort of firm leaders celebrating their inclusion in the Top 25 Attraction Firms ranking for 2020.

Bill Papastergiadis, who is the President of the GCM and a very active in the Greek community, said he was “thrilled” for the recognition placing the firm he leads in Melbourne as Managing Partner amongst those deemed more sought-after by employees.

The annual listing is released by Lawyers Weekly as part of the Legal Firm of Choice Survey conducted in partnership with Momentum Intelligence, a way to gauge which firms lead the pack in terms of attraction for legal professionals.

“Culture defines strategy. Without a workforce which is engaged and interested in servicing our national and international clients, we would not have continued our extraordinary growth […] Ensuring our lawyers are respected and inspired means that collectively we can continue to grow our workforce and clients,” Mr Papastergiadis said.

According to Momentum Intelligence’s research consultant Oliver Stofka, the legal profession in Australia remains one of the country’s most competitive talent markets, despite 2020 being “a year like no other with the COVID pandemic constantly providing new challenges.”

The top 25 listing reflects a point system ranking from a reportedly 19,000 total of active law firms in Australia.

How does it work?

The methodology is based on answers to the question “Which firms would you most likely consider a move to if you ever decided to leave your current firm?” included in the 2020 Momentum Intelligence Legal Firm of Choice Survey.

The over 900 legal professionals participating in the survey across Australia, were able to select up to five firms in their response.

The survey was conducted between 1 July and 10 August 2020, with the Top 25 Attraction Firms ranking running its 6th year.
