Two Adelaide men, Andreas Alexander Erotocritou, 33, and 22-year-old Pierre Georges faced court on Friday charged with trafficking a controlled drug, and two counts of trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.
The two were arrested by police the night before after a search at Morphett Vale – reportedly Georges’ suburb of residence, led to a “significant drug seizure”.
The Crime Gangs Task Force were among the units deployed at the industrial premises at around 6pm on Thursday, locating approximately six kgs of methamphetamine, 1 kg of cocaine, 150 ecstasy tablets, a cocaine press and $26,000 in cash.
The premises are rented by a company that is said to be owned by Erotocritou who had employed Georges a few weeks ago.
The Christies Beach Magistrates Court also heard that Erotocritou had told police all drugs were his and had admitted he had been dealing “for a period of time.”
But police formed the preliminary view based on their investigations that both Erotocritou and Georges were engaged in the dealing.
“Mr Erotocritou said all of the drugs were his however there are pictures on both of the defendant’s telephones … showing extremely large amounts of money so prosecution are of the opinion both of these defendants are engaged together,” the police prosecutor said.
Erotocritou was denied bail, while the Magistrate’s decision to approve $1,000 ail for Georges is expected to be appealed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, who said it was “inappropriate in the circumstances”.
The two men are set to reappear before court in June.
