The cultivation of the Greek identity and consciousness of the students is the vision of Nestoras College.
For more than 47 years, Nestoras College has been among the leading Greek schools providing an educational environment suitable for students to understand and embrace their Greek identity and consciousness through the richness of Greek history and culture.
Today, the school has about 700 students of all levels, from preschoolers to VCE, divided across three campuses; Thomastown, Doncaster and Thornbury.
There are 39 specialised teachers making up the staff cohort, all with many years of experience and studies in Greece and Australia. The teachers participate in continuing education programs and attend first aid seminars.
In addition to the printed textbooks provided free of charge, the curriculum includes music classes where students can learn to play musical instruments, songs and traditional dances. For the convenience of their students and the better communication of teachers with parents, their program is supported by digital educational platforms, such as Google Classroom, Zoom etc.
Teachers implement strategies that encourage active participation in classroom activities and the use of language in real time.
Each year, students have the opportunity to present their progress to their families and the general public through theatrical productions, music concerts and student projects. These showcases take place in modern amphitheaters, with audiovisual technology and live music.
Classes for the 2021 school year begin in Thomastown on 1 February, in Doncaster on 3 February and in Thornbury on 5 February. If you would like to learn more about Nestoras College, please call 03 8300 0270 or email through their website nestorascollege.vic.edu.au/contact.
