Thanasi Kokkinakis shocked even the likes of Australian tennis legend Todd Woodbridge after he misjudged a return from fellow Australian opponent Alex Bolt.

During the deciding set, Bolt held the break point and a 3-2 lead.

Kokkinakis let Bolt take the 2-6 6-4 6-3 win after leaving a ball that landed on the line perhaps thinking that it was going to fly past the baseline.

The young Greek-Australian was left dumbfounded after realising what he had done, scratching his head with his hands on the court.

Woodbridge commented on Kokkinakis’ strange decision to not play the ball during his commentary for Nine.

“Goodness me, what an error.”

His co-commentator also noted Kokkinakis may have “thought that would be out and then saw it land on the line”.

Bolt took Kokkinakis’ moment of weakness and ran with it, going on to win the next two games, consolidating his break before confidently serving out the match.
