Greek long-distance runner Marios Giannakou who had climbed Eleftheria Tosiou to the top of Mt Olympus strapped to his back now plans to take his disabled friend skydiving.

The two adventurers met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday and shared their plans.

Mr Giannakou met with Ms Tosiou, a 22-year-old biology student in Thessaloniki.

The young student, who uses a wheelchair, had said that she had wished to climb the tallest mountain of Greece, a fete which Mr Giannakou had already done 50 times.

About to embark on his 51st climb, Mr Giannakou will take Ms Tosiou with him.

The team made it up the peak early in October with Ms Tosiou strapped to his back for 10 hours.

Mr Mitsotakis said he hopes to climb up the mountain too one day, and said the two had inspired the country with their story.

“When you go through difficult times, you take strength from stories like yours… then you pursue your own goals,” he said.

Mr Mitsotakis then asked the friends about their next journey. Mr Giannakou and Ms Tosiou told him of their plans to go skydiving together, something that the young student with a rare disability always wanted to do.
