Eight years after saving the Central Coast Mariners from financial oblivion, owner Mike Charlesworth has been shopping the club around to whoever might listen in Europe.

A report in the Sydney Morning Herald that Manchester United were interested in buying the club and rebranding it before moving it to North Sydney met with condemnation.

Fox Sports reports, however, that there has yet to be a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) signed by anyone at the Mariners, nor have there been requests to check the books.

Nonetheless, the Mariners are an attractive proposition under the right terms.

Charlesworth is desperate to sell and move away, leaving Alf Stewart to run the team.

The reportage states that it is unlikely that the Central Coast Mariners will go anywhere soon, and the speculation that Manchester United are potentially interested in the A-League is, according to Fox Sports “like hanging out at a pub with mates and a Victoria’s Secret model wants to chat, or Snapchat, or whatever the hell people do now.”
