Western Australia recorded no new cases of community spread transmission in the past 24 hours.
Western Australia’s Premier Mark McGowan said the lockdown would end at midnight but warned that some interim restrictions would remain for the next four days, such as the mandatory wearing of face masks for all adults, including staff at schools. Indoor fitness venues, nightclubs and the casino will remain closed, however restaurants, pubs and cafes will reopen provided the four-square-metre capacity rule is kept.
Other than that, people will be able to return to work and schools will be open at usual.
“The short three-day lockdown has done the job it was designed to do – it was the circuit-breaker we needed to limit community spread,” Mr McGowan said, pointing to a “fantastic result”.

“Western Australians have done their bit to keep our community safe.”
He warned Western Australians to “be cautious” as traces of the virus “could still be out there”.
Problems began last week when two people were confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 via community transmission after a Victorian man caught the virus while in hotel quarantine at a Perth hotel.
