Palm Sunday coincided with Anzac Day on Sunday, but despite this Koans came to the sold-out Palm Sunday lunch to celebrate the religious occasion with friends.
A traditional meal of fish and calamari followed a delicious fish soup, cooked by the group’s members.
Guests had the opportunity to learn the art of Palm Sunday cross-making, demonstrated by Koan aunties. These crosses are traditionally made on Lazarus Saturday, the day before Palm Sunday, where believers knot together crosses in preparation for Sunday’s mass.
Raffle prizes were also drawn, consisting mainly of a variety of citrus trees which were taken home by those who were lucky in the draw.
The event provided an opportunity to introduce the new committee.
