Greece confirmed 3,109 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours and four more deaths.
Half of the new cases were in Attica, where the Athens capital is located, with 1,571 new cases recorded, followed by 214 in Thessaloniki, 122 in Heraklio, Crete, 106 in Rethymno, Crete, 99 in Larissa, 71 in Achaia, 48 in Ioannina, 49 in Magnisia, 45 in Corinth, 43 in Karditsa, 43 in Chania, 36 in Mykonos, 33 in Rhodes, 29 in Messinia, 28 in Kozani, 27 in Aitoloakarnania, 26 in Evia, 25 in Paros, 23 in Corfu, 22 in Ilia, 18 at Evros, 16 in Serres, 15 in Lesvos, 15 in Halkidiki, 13 in Lasithi, 12 in Viotia, Pella and Fthiotida, 11 in Argolida and Thira and under 10 in Thesprotia, Kilkis, Zakynthos, Preveza, Grevena, Kos, Pieria, Arcadia, Imathia, Trikala, Arta, Milos, Rodopi, Drama, Kalymnos, Laconia, Florina, Kastoria, Kefalonia, Naxos, Lefkada, Xanthi, Kea, Sporades, Kythnos,Fokida, Chios and another 174 under investigation. There were 11 cases detected at entry points into Greece.
It is the first time since 11 May that cases in Greece have climbed to more than 3,000.
The total number of victims in Greece since the start of the pandemic stands at 12,806 deaths, of which 95.2 per cent had an underlying condition or were aged over 70 years.

The average age of people getting infected by the virus in Greece is 42 years, while the average age of people dying from coronavirus-related complications is 74 years.
There are currently 133 patients on ventilators in hospitals, and 112 patients admitted in the last 24 hours.
During Tuesday’s press conference to break down the measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Digital Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis presented the digital app ‘COVID Free GR’, which will be used by places of entertainment to check if the European certificates of immunization against COVID presented by their customers are genuine, ANA reports.
