NSW recorded 319 new locally acquired COVID-19 infections in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.
It’s the first time the state has ever had more than 300 cases in a day.
There have been five more COVID-19 deaths in NSW.
It takes the state’s total fatalities since the start of the pandemic to 84.
Victorian COVID-19 case numbers have sky-rocketed with 29 locally acquired cases being recorded in the last 24 hours.
The cases are all linked to previously reported cases and none were in quarantine during their infectious periods. The state recorded 43,618 test results during the 24 hour period.
The news comes as Victorian exposure sites also grow while the state prepares to spend the weekend in their sixth COVID-19 lockdown.
Queensland has recorded 13 new community cases of COVID-19, Deputy Premier Steven Miles says.
All the cases are linked to the Delta outbreak that started at Indooroopilly State High School, in Brisbane’s inner west.
