NSW COVID cases climbed to 344 new cases and two more deaths on Wednesday, with concern that the numbers are likely to rise.
The deaths concerned a man in his 90s and a man in his 30s who both died after contracting COVID-19.
Ms Berejiklian said that if NSW kept up its rate of vaccinations, there would be more than six million jabs administered by the end of August.
“With six million jabs by the end of August, if achieved, there will be opportunities for us in parts of the communities where cases are low and vaccination rates are high for them to do more than they do today,” she said.

“We are starting to see a decline, so that intensive work we have been doing is starting to have effect, and we are asking the community to keep going, stick to the rules,” Ms Berejiklian said, though added she was concerned about cases in the neighbouring LGAs of Bayside, Burwood and Inner West, and warned they could be subject to tighter restrictions if cases don’t stabilise.
Fourteen new cases were confirmed in the Hunter region overnight, with the Premier saying it is unlikely the area would come out of lockdown later this week.
Two more cases were reported in Dubbo with the Premier confirming the area going into lockdown at 1:00pm.
Meanwhile, Sydney man Zoran Radovanovic, 52, who triggered a snap lockdown at Byron Bay after travelling to the area to reportedly look at real estate, while infected with COVID-19, will be charged after violating health orders public health orders. Mr Radovanovic is now being treated in Lismore Base Hospital.
NSW Police released a statement saying he will be served with a court attendance notice today, and will be visited by police at the hospital. He will be subject to strict bail conditions before appearing at Lismore Local Court on 13 September.
