Stefanos Tsitsipas has continued his fine season, defeating the in-form Norwegian Casper Ruud 6-1 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the Canadian Open in Toronto.
The Greek star, who’s risen to a career-high No.3 in the world rankings this week, recorded a 45th tour-leading win of the year in just 74 minutes on Friday.
“It is very nice to see myself perform at this level,” enthused Tsitsipas in an on-court interview. “I was sticking close to the baseline and coming in, taking the ball early. It worked perfectly.”
Tsitsipas will face American qualifier Reilly Opelka in the semifinal.).
