The Victorian government has now shifted its focus to suppressing the outbreak so as to keep the health system from being overwhelmed rather than continue efforts to bring cases down to zero.
It was announced on Wednesday that lockdown will remain until 23 September, when 70 per cent of the eligible population will have received the first vaccine dose. Current restrictions include a 9pm to 5am curfew and a 5km travel bubble.
