There are fears that Victoria’s case numbers could surge after the state recorded 246 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours despite stringent lockdowns and a curfew.

Ninety of the local cases are linked to known outbreaks and the remainder under investigation.

Forecasters predict there could be more than 4,000 cases a day by the end of month. Forecasters warned of uncertainty associated with the inconsistency of the state’s daily case numbers.

With Victoria being behind NSW in the vaccine rollout, even though it had been ahead of NSW at the start of August. Currently three weeks behind, there will be a massive expansion of GP clinics so that the schedule to reduce restrictions could be sped up.
