Newly appointed Premier Dominic Perrottet has upgraded aspects of the Reopening New South Wales roadmap that will allow greater freedoms to fully vaccinated people as the state passes its 70per cent double-vaccination target.

Mr Perrottet announced the changes at the daily press conference where it was noted that for the first time in a long time there was no NSW Health representative present.

Some of the changes to the earlier roadmap allowed for 10 visitors to enter a home not counting children aged 12 or under (previously it was five); the cap on outdoor gatherings has been raised from 20 to 30 people and now 100 people will be allowed to attend weddings and funerals and not 50, as was previously announced.

Indoor swimming pools will open to allow swimming lessons, squad training, lap swimming and rehabilitation classes to take place.

When the state reaches the 80% double target on Monday, more restrictions will be eased to allow 20 visitors to a home and up to 50 people will be allowed to gather outdoors.

Mr Perrottet said up to 3,000 people will allowed to attend controlled and ticketed outdoor event (up from 500 people). Nightclubs will be allowed to reopened for seated drinking only and no dancing. Masks will no longer be required for office buildings.

He emphasized “All roadmap freedoms at 70 percent and 80 percent will continue for fully vaccinated people only”.

All school students will return to on-site learning with a range of COVID-safe measures in place” by 25 October.

“Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 12 students will still return to face-to-face learning on October 18, with all other years now returning one week later on October 25,” the premier announced.

“Vaccinations are the key to life returning to normal and the changes today will help family and friends reconnect, get kids back to school and get businesses back up and running sooner,” Mr Perrottet said.
