Victoria confirmed 1,638 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday following 77,000 tests for COVID-19 on Wednesday. The additional cases bring the active COVID-19 numbers to 15,074 in the state.
There were also two more deaths recorded.
On a more optimistic front, 83.6 per cent of eligible Victorians have received a single vaccine dose, with 54.5 per cent fully vaccinated.
Businesses in the state are pushing for the rapid antigen test trial to roll out immediately across critical industries in a bid to keep supply chains moving following yesterday’s government announcement that almost 2.2 million rapid antigen tests would be rolled out across the healthcare system.
Victoria’s Health Minister Martin Foley has flagged that isolation requirements could be overhauled in a matter of weeks.
