New South Wales has recorded 444 new COVID-19 cases, while Victoria noted 1,571 new cases and one case acquired overseas.

Sadly, four people died from COVID-19 in NSW and 13 deaths were recorded to COVID in Victoria – the highest daily death toll since September 2020.

Yesterday’s vaccine data, however showed an increase in both states with NSW having reached 75.2 per cent double dose rates and looks to be 80 per cent double dosed on the weekend. NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has spoken about the need to reopen the state and offered new support measures for businesses, such as the stock rebate of up to $20,000 in case of a lockdown over Christmas.

“We learned from Victoria last year that one of the key issues was providing confidence as we head into the summer months, Christmas trade, that businesses go out there and invest in their businesses, buy stock to get going and we know that there has been concern in relation to lockdowns,” he said.

In the ACT, there have been 51 new cases of COVID-19 while Canberrans are still in lockdown.
