Only 100 guests reportedly attended the Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony of Philip Glücksburg and Nina Flohr at the Athens Cathedral on Saturday.
But many more were the members of the public that gathered outside the church to get a front row glimpse of the son of Greece’s former king and his wife, daughter of Swiss businessman Thomas Flohr.
Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens officiated over the ceremony, which began at 5 pm and was livestreamed at an Athens hotel.
Former King of Greece Constantine II was seen arriving in a wheelchair accompanied by his wife Anne-Marie, while the list of attendees reportedly included Marianna Vardinoyianni, Yianna Angelopoulos – Daskalaki, Stavros Niarhos and Alexandros Lykourezos, as well as members of the royal families of Bulgaria, Denmark, United Kingdom and Spain.
According to media reports, the couple had already exchanged vows in a civil ceremony in Switzerland last December and had their pre-wedding party in Athens.
Philippos Glücksburg, aged 35, is the youngest son of Greece’s former king and Nina Flohr is the daughter of Swiss businessman, founder of private jet charter company VistaJet, Thomas Flohr.
Mr Flohr’s estimated net worth in 2018 was US$2.3 billion, but a year later he stopped featuring in the Forbes’ billionaires’ list.
The couple has been in a relationship for years, but made their first official public appearance together at the wedding of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle.
