On Thursday, the Hellenic RSL Melbourne held a small Ceremony to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that gave so much in 1940-41 for our freedom in the Greek Campaign during World War Two.

With the COVID restrictions, a short Church service was held at St Eustathios in South Melbourne followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Australian Hellenic Memorial.

Consul General for Greece in Melbourne, Emmanuel Kakavelakis, spoke about the importance of ‘Ohi’ Day for all the sacrifice Greece endured in the Second World War.

Along with Mr Kakavelakis, we wish also to thank Bill Papastergiadis OAM, President of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne Victoria, and also express a big thank you to Father Nikolaos from North Balwyn for the blessing.
