A number of Greek community associations and special guests came together on 28 October to celebrate Ohi Day at the Dormition of the Theotokos Church at Mt Gravatt, southern Brisbane.
The day began with a morning tea. The special guests who attended included Bico Athanasas who represented Jim Raptis, the Honorary Consul of Greece in Queensland, Harry Bertsos, the vice-president of the Brisbane RSL (Returned and Services League of Australia). Luke Comino, the president of the church’s community and Fr Nicholas Brown, the assistant priest at the Orthodox Parish and Community of the Dormition of the Theotokos were also present.
Following the service at the church, the dignitaries and various associations gathered outside the church to lay wreaths commemorating the important and historic day.
