Greece confirmed 8,613 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, with 19 of these identified at entry points to the country, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) said on Tuesday. There were also 46 deaths, bringing the death toll to 16,414 victims since the pandemic began.

From the 486 people currently on ventilators, 83.95 per cent (408 people) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 16.05 per cent (78 people) are fully vaccinated.

The average age of new infections is at 38 years, while the average age of those dying with COVID-19 is 78 years.

On Monday, around 61 per cent of Greece´s 11 million population had been fully vaccinated, below the EU average.
