Bunjil Ward Councillor Steve Staikos has been re-elected as Kingston Mayor, having been voted by his councillor colleagues to serve as Mayor for a fourth term.
Cr Staikos has served on Council for 13 years in total and during his new 12 month term, promises to help his community recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and lockdowns adding that “there is a unique opportunity to provide our local knowledge to influence great outcomes for our community on major projects being delivered by the Victorian Government, including the Chain of Parks project, Suburban Rail Loop and Level Crossing Removals”.
“We have a federal election in the next few months, and a state election around 12 months away, a key focus of this Mayoral term is to secure support from the Victorian and the Commonwealth Governments for our priority projects, that are important to the people of the City of Kingston. Council will continue working hand-in-hand with our community and I am confident that together we can deliver a bright future for the City of Kingston,” Cr Staikos said.
Meanwhile, Wattle Ward Councillor Jenna Davey-Burns was elected as Deputy Mayor for the upcoming term.
