Opposition Labor Leader Anthony Albanese met with Archbishop Makarios at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia in Redfern on Wednesday on 17 November.

The archbishop held the luncheon for the Labor leader, which was also attended by members of the Church, including Bishops Emilianos of Meloa, Iakovos of Militoupolis, Elpidios of Kyaneon, Siluanos of Sinopis, Kyriakos of Sozopoleos, Christodoulos of Magnesia, Prochoros of Charioupolis, as well as Nikolaos Archontonis, the brother of Patriarch Bartholomew.
