Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce will remain in the United States for around a fortnight until he tests positive to COVID-19.

Mr Joyce was confirmed positive to the virus during a visit to Washington where he was set to speak with US lawmakers on the influence of social media and military capabilities.

Other contacts Mr Joyce came into contact with are self-isolating, including Australia’s Ambassador to the US, Arthur Sinodinos. People in the embassy who met with Mr Joyce are following protocols while they await COVID-19 test results.

“I probably won’t be home for Christmas obviously. I suppose being double vaccinated helps,” Mr Joyce said.
