Greek actor Petros Filippidis who has been in the spotlight in the past months over allegations of rape and repeat sexual offences is set to be tried in March 2022.
Following the decision of a misdemeanours court the actor will sit in front of the count on 18 March facing charges for two rapes of the same actress back in 2008 and attempting to rape two more colleagues in 2010 and 2014. The two first alleged acts took place in his dressing room whereas the third woman has accused Filippidis of attempting to sexually assault her in his car during a professional appointment while she was looking for work.
Filippidis, who has been detained since last July has rejected all charges, saying the women are accusing his for revenge and “for publicity reasons”.
The judges have decided not to release the actor on bail until his trials due to “his long period of action, from 2008 to 2014 inclusive (….) as he appears to have taken advantage of his position as director, theater director and person in power” and therefore is likely to reoffend.
