According to a report from the Greek coast guard, the number of dead following the capsising of a migrant boat in the Aegean Sea has reached 16.

Authorities confirmed that 63 people have been rescued since Friday from the sailboat that lost control five miles off the coast of Paros island. The boat that was smuggling asylum-seekers from Turkey to Europe has been since towed to a nearby port.

Over the past three days the number of bodies retrieved from the waters has reached 30. Earlier this week 11 people lost their lives near the island of Antikythera as their sailboat crashed on a rocky islet, with 90 people being rescued by the coastguard.
