For yet another year, Greek Australian businessman John Halikos, has ensured that poor families across Kalymnos island can have a happy Christmas and New Year’s feast.

Halikos, one of Darwin’s most powerful men, told his business partners on Kalymnos to purchase and distribute turkeys to everyone that was struggling financially along with his wishes for a better 2022. The turkeys were distributed by the Archdiocese’s social food store in collaboration with the philanthropic union Tabitha to families and individuals in need. Charity organisations and philanthropic institutions also received supplies in order for their residents and recipients to enjoy decent holidays.

Halikos, who has been making sure no one is his motherland goes through Christmas and Easter holidays hungry has among other things created several employment opportunities on the island in an effort to keep it alive and secure a future for younger generations.

One of his biggest and most recent ventures has been completed in 2021, the Halikos building, as part of the General Hospital of Kalymnos build entirely at the expense of the island’s great benefactor.
