Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the Australian Open men’s warm-up tournament in Melbourne due to an unexpected asthma attack.
This comes ahead of his comeback in next week’s Sydney Tennis Classic for which he has been handed a wildcard.
Kygrios, 26, had promised his fans a major comeback following knee treatment late last year.
The Greek-Australian dropped to world number 93 during 2021 having only played 15 matches.
Kygrios was meant to face Slovakian Alex Molcan at Melbourne Park on Tuesday night but another player will have to replace him in the main draw.
