Businessman Geoffrey Edelsten passed away in June last year, but his last wishes continue to cause drama following the opening of his will.
The medical entrepreneur who was known for his extravagant lifestyle and weakness for beautiful women has not left his ex-wives Brynne Gordon and Gabi Grecko (Gabriella Rose Curtis) anything.
He did not even mention his very first wife, Leanne Edelsten, who he married in the 1980s.
As specified in his will he chose not to because “he provided for them substantially and excessively” during his marriages.
Regarding his only son, Matthew Beard, a similar decision sees him compensated a bit over $50,000 out of an estate worth just over $1 million.
Neard, will also be receiving $1000 per year from the will’s date (2017).
“During my lifetime, I have provided substantial financial support to him, at the request of his mother, without question and despite having limited contact with him,” Edelsten explained in the will.
“I made almost all of these payments when I myself was in financial difficulty.”
The probate, as per the Supreme Court of Victoria, shows Edelsten’s best friend Lewi Karalis as the beneficiary of $300,000.
It was found that, the deceased, who died alone only had $60,000 in his name, having spent most of it on a wild lifestyle.
A series of disastrous financial decisions had left Edelsten a bankrupt in the United States, but it would take years for forensic financial experts to track down his missing millions.
